LIFAD Sales To Be Restricted In Germany As Of Nov.11
...So I found out through an informative tweeter, that as of this coming Wednesday Germans will be required to present proof of age (ID) in order to buy the new album. This was decided because the cover art images were deemed too graphic by whoever's in charge of this stuff; also, the lyrics to 'Ich Tue Dir Weh' were mentioned as 'having explicit references to sadomasochistic behavior'. A few of the tweeting fans were angered and insulted by this ban/ restriction that will soon be in effect throughout Germany.
I don't have a problem with it - makes perfect sense to me.
They decided to do a porno, and porno is intended for adults. It involves concepts that younger people may not understand, or get confusing messages about in regards to what they are seeing. Although it should be noted that there are some teens who display maturity for their age, this stuff is still hardcore, adult material and whether the younger ones among us should have access to it should be determined by an adult. If a parent, for example, feels their 16-year-old son is mature enough to handle watching 'Pussy', then fine - he should be able to watch it. The reality is that not all adolescents have a grasp on these concepts, and so the restriction is both sensible and responsible.
This is another reason why the porno video bothers me: Anyone who has seen parts of LAB knows that Rammstein does have fan members who are pretty young and impressionable. By putting the porn out there, the younger fans were marginalized; it's almost as if Rammstein just wanted to throw a pitch out to certain followers and not other ones. Maybe they just didn't think about it (how it would affect the younger fans), or maybe they just didn't care... I wonder if it would be different, though, if one of their own kids got into the porn business. Would it still be so great then?
I realize that's a bit harsh, but I feel bad for the kids this time around.
And for big prudes like me.
