O Mankind!
We created you from a single pair of male and female and made you
Into different nations and tribes, that you may know each other.
Verily, the most honoured of you in the sight of God is the most righteous of you.
And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted with all things!
Qur’an 49:13

Muharram,
Safar,
Rabi‘u ’l-Awwal,
Rabi‘u ’th-Thani
These are the months of Islam
Jamadu ’l-Ula,
Jamadu ’l-Ukhra,
Rajab and Sha‘ban
Ramadan, Ramadan, Ramadan then
Shawal,
Dhu ’l-Qa’da and
Dhu ’l-Hijjah
These are the months in Islam.

Every morning on every news flash,
I hear the sorrow of the world
It seems like everybody’s lost and
scared trying to make sense of it all
And as I travel to and fro, so many faces pass me by
I see lonely hearts living lonely lives just biding their time
And while we call ourselves civilised, many people living empty lives
As they drone their way through day and night

Allahumma salli ala Muhammad
Wa ‘ala ali Muhammad
Kama sallayta ‘ala Ibrahim
Wa ‘ala ali Ibrahim
Innaka hamidun majid
Allahumma Barik ‘ala Muhammad
Wa ‘ala ali Muhammad
Kama barakta ala Ibrahim
Wa ala ali Ibrahim
Innaka hamidun majid
English translation:
O Allah, send prayers on Muhammad
and on the family of Muhammad,
as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim

Arabic chorus:
Salamun, salamun, salamun, salam.
Salamun, salamun, salamun, salam.
Salamun, salamun, salamun, salam.
Salamun, salamun, salamun, salam.
We made peace a symbol of ours;
in the name of peace we gather here now.
O Lord! please make these days of ours
on this earth filled with peace.
