Rammstein And Astrology

3

Since I have been in a rather reflective, surreal mood lately, I thought I would post my thoughts about this group and the astrological aspects (how do the band members stack up against one another?). Truthfully I wasn't surprised to find that the group is predominantly earth and water (3 water signs, two of them Scorpios, and two earth signs as well). Only one member, the bass player, is a fire sign (Aries).
So here is my curiosity: I wonder how well the singer and the main songwriter get along. Till is a Cappie, Richard is a Cancer; anyone who knows anything about astrology should know that these two signs are polar opposites, which guarantees friction and ego issues. Both are cardinal signs, which means that they both want to lead and have dominance over the other one; but only one of the two can be on top, so I imagine they sometimes 'butt heads' when they're working on a project. If you watch Richard at the end of 'Voelkerball', you can obviously see that he feels as though the band belongs to him... but when rumors started flying that Till might possibly leave the group, it didn't take very long for fans to react to the news. Heads were ready to roll... so you see there's no cutting out Till from this band. On the other hand, you can't really cut out Richard either, because he is the main songwriter! Both are so important to this group, I feel, that trying to choose between which should stay or go is like asking, 'Which would you rather be without, your arm or your leg?' Don't you really need both??
So in between these two cardinal opposites are 2 Scorpios, Paul and Flake, and Chris is a Taurus (all favorable). Olli is the odd man out - he is the lone fire sign, but the Sun sign is always mitigated by other aspects of the birthchart. I just hope, for the sake of the band, the fans and everybody involved, that Till and Richard find a way to 'co-rule' without needing to top (or oust) each other.
Rammstein really needs both.

My one comment to you is that if you read anything about Till, you see that he is not the one with the ego problems but that it's primarily Richard who creates the tension. He and Paul seem to square off too -- they said as much in interviews.

Richard started Emigrate as a way to give his controling nature an outlet and keep it from destroying Rammstein.

Thanks for your comment... I would tend to agree with you, although because I do not know any of the band members in a personal way there has to be a degree of open-mindedness about anything seen and read. But yes, I see where you are coming from, why you might think this way; Richard is often quoted as being the founding father of the group, and to be fair to him he is the band's principal songwriter. I am also fairly certain that Mr. Lindemann retains a healthy sense of ego, he needs it in order to do his job as effectively as he does. Cheers!

I only go by what he says himself in live audio interviews, german and english. He's stated numerous times that he started Emigrate to save Rammstein and himself. His vanity that he readily admits to, was not the problem. The fact that he is a workaholic and somewhat introverted and solitary when he works was half of his contributing trouble. He started composing at home all the time and the rest of the band felt they were losing their democratic imput. Another live interview he stated that he is a troubled soul and writing music integral to keeping his sanity. When the rest of Rammstein couldn't or wouldn't keep up with his obsessive creative needs he began to feel physically ill and depressed all the time. The other half is he is a perfectionist to the extreme and has trust and control issues which again works against Rammstein's democratic set up. Long story short, he says Emigrate let him work out some issues so that he could go back and assume his proper place within the band composing IN the studio with his bandmates. Rammstein is and always will be his number one priority.

I so often see him cast as the ego villian within the band which bothers me as Richard himself has always been the first to step up and admit his faults. I find that a very admirable quality. A lucky friend of mine got to meet him while stationed in germany and told me Richard was soft spoken, sincere, very attentive and talkative. He said the man has some vanity issues but he didn't really detect any overpowering ego from him. No more than the rest of the band whom he also met.

To answer your main question though. Till claims that Richard has been his closest friend for many years now. Sure they have professional friction but nothing that comes between them away from the work. Richard even laughingly said that singing for Emigrate has brought him to respect the effort Till puts into singing and that he will stop being so hard on him in the future.

There is obviously some some influence deeper in their natal charts that allows them to overcome the opposing nature of Capricorn and Cancer. Thats the first place I'd look if you are very curious about it.

They also happen to be family by way of Richard's and Till's daughters being half sisters. To germans, family is everything.

opposite signs (Cap & Cancer) do not primarily create friction, but a bond- albeit a somewhat rough one.
then again, I think Till and Richard are more likely to clash over the fact that Richard's fathered a child with Till's ex-wife (who for whatever reason was given Till's last name), before she left him too.
