The clue is in the name. The title "The Greatest Recession (I’ve Ever Been To)" is at once humorous and sardonic, serious but estranged. Even the band name U SAY USA sounds like an accusation, a tug of war for an identity, a sense that "USA" meant something else, something forgotten, and something worth fighting for.
